SITAD: Secure IT Asset Disposition

Secure IT asset disposition and certified data destruction.

At New Recycling, we're in the business of protecting your brand while protecting the environment. Our services make it possible to keep retired electronics and hardware out of landfills around the world, and to do it with the peace of mind that your assets are being properly handled to avoid data leaks or informational breaches.

Built on three commitments

The principles behind every pickup, every wipe, every certificate.

Your data, secured.

Every device that touches our facility is handled as if it still contained sensitive data, because it might. Wipe to NIST 800-88, shred to NAID AAA, or both. Witnessed destruction on request.

The environment, respected.

We're in this to keep retired hardware out of landfills. Functional assets are refurbished and redeployed; the rest flows through R2v3 and ISO 14001 downstream channels for proper material recovery.

Your brand, protected.

Logos sanitized. Asset tags scrubbed. Serials reconciled against your records. The story of your retired equipment ends at our dock, not on a resale site.

How it works

A predictable process from your loading dock to a signed certificate.

  1. Step 1

    We come to you.

Locked totes or palletized shrink wrap for in rack transport. Sealed truck transport with chain of custody from pickup through to processing.

  2. Step 2

    Data is destroyed.

Software wipe (NIST 800-88) for reuse, or physical shred (NAID AAA) for retirement. Done onsite or in our secured facility. Your call.

  3. Step 3

    Hardware is recycled.

Functional assets refurbished and redeployed where it makes sense. The rest flows to certified downstream vendors for environmentally responsible material recovery.

  4. Step 4

    You get the paperwork.

Asset level certificate of destruction, chain of custody documentation, and a clean reconciliation report covering everything your auditors will ask for.

Certifications & standards

We maintain the certifications so you don't have to vet downstream vendors yourself. Copies of current certificates available on request.

ITAD and data destruction FAQ

  • What is the difference between NIST 800-88 Purge and NAID AAA destruction?
NIST 800-88 Purge is a logical sanitization that leaves the drive intact and reusable, appropriate when the plan is to redeploy or resell the device. NAID AAA aligned destruction is a physical process (shredding, disintegration, or crushing) that renders the media unrecoverable and unusable. Choose Purge for reuse, Destroy for retirement, or ask us to run both for belt and suspenders coverage.
  • Can you destroy media on site at my facility?
Yes. We bring the destruction to your loading dock or data center for high sensitivity retirements. Your security officer is welcome to witness. The certificate of destruction is signed at your site.
  • How quickly can you complete a decommission?
Small to medium projects (a few pallets) typically wrap in 1 to 3 business days from pickup. Multi rack data center decommissions are scoped up front with a written schedule. Most quote requests get a scheduling response the same business day.
  • Do I get an asset level certificate, or one certificate for the whole lot?
Your choice. Lot level is standard and lower cost. Asset level certificates (with serial numbers reconciled against your inventory) are available for regulated industries and audit driven retirements, and are typically what the paperwork calls for when SOX, HIPAA, or PCI DSS records are involved.
  • Do you sanitize logos and asset tags before anything leaves the facility?
Yes, as standard on ITAD projects. Asset tags are removed or defaced, and visible branding is sanitized before functional units are refurbished or downstream materials are shipped. If your program requires additional brand handling, tell us on the intake and we will document it.
  • What happens to hardware that still works?
Functional assets that pass our diagnostic are refurbished and redeployed through resale channels, which offsets the cost of retirement for you. Non functional or end of life hardware flows through R2v3 and ISO 14001 downstream vendors for material recovery. Nothing goes to landfill.
  • Do you carry insurance?
Yes. General liability, cargo, and errors and omissions coverage appropriate for ITAD work. A certificate of insurance naming your entity as additional insured is available on request during vendor onboarding.
